About the service

ProtestingPropertyTaxes.com ("the Service") is a digital service that helps Texas property owners protest their annual assessed property value with their county appraisal district. The customer enters a property address; we run an analysis against our database of county records; and we deliver a downloadable PDF Contestation Report by email. The customer files the report with their appraisal district or uses it at their informal protest hearing. The Service is fully digital — no physical product is shipped.

Nature of the software

The software used to create reports is automated (or computer-aided) and has not been prepared by an appraiser, has not been reviewed by an appraiser, may not be considered compliant with Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), and should not be construed as a formal appraisal.

The reports produced by ProtestingPropertyTaxes.com do not guarantee a reduction in a property tax valuation. Since tax rates and exemptions may influence final tax amounts, ProtestingPropertyTaxes.com does not guarantee that a reduction in Appraised Value results in lower taxes.

Permitted use

The use of this Service is for personal use only — i.e. property owners who want information to assist them in lowering their own property tax valuation. Any commercial use (regardless of any MLS affiliation) is prohibited. Other than by separate written agreement, no other firm or individual may resell or use commercially any product by ProtestingPropertyTaxes.com. The valuation produced by a report may not be used for any purpose other than as aid to reduce the valuation for property tax purposes.

Data accuracy and liability

  • ProtestingPropertyTaxes.com, Austin Real Estate Partners, and/or PXN Residential LLC cannot guarantee the accuracy of the data used in the reports.

  • The adjustments made to the comparable properties may not reflect the same calculations the appraisal district would use.

  • The user releases ProtestingPropertyTaxes.com, Austin Real Estate Partners, and/or PXN Residential LLC from any liability for any negative impact a report may have on a property tax valuation.

Pricing

The Service is offered in two forms:

  • Annual subscription — $99 per property per tax year. The customer is charged once per year, only after the Contestation Report for that year has been generated and emailed.

  • One-time purchase — $179 per property per tax year. Charged at checkout for a single-year report with no automatic renewal.

Refund policy

Customers are only charged once the Contestation Report has been generated and emailed. If a customer changes their mind before the report is delivered, they can cancel for a full refund by emailing help@protestingpropertytaxes.com.

Once the Contestation Report has been emailed, the purchase is final except under the money-back guarantee described below.

Money-back guarantee

Any customer who purchases a ProtestingPropertyTaxes.com Contestation Report and does not receive a reduction in their Appraised Value from the appraisal district or the Appraisal Review Board is eligible for a refund of the report fee. To be eligible:

  • The customer must complete the entire protest process, including the formal hearing with the Appraisal Review Board. ProtestingPropertyTaxes.com will provide step-by-step instructions on how to submit a Notarized Affidavit so the customer may appear in absentia at the formal hearing.

  • The customer must provide a copy of the Appraisal Review Board's hearing decision as proof that no reduction was received.

  • Customers who withdraw, settle, or do not file their protest are not eligible for a refund.

Since tax rates and exemptions may influence final tax amounts, ProtestingPropertyTaxes.com does not guarantee that a reduction in Appraised Value results in lower taxes — the guarantee applies only to Appraised Value outcomes.

Annual subscription cancellation

Annual subscribers are billed each year only after their Contestation Report for that year has been prepared and emailed. If a subscriber no longer wants to protest yearly, they can cancel anytime in either of two ways:

Subscribers must notify ProtestingPropertyTaxes.com by April 6 each year to cancel that year's renewal. Cancellation after April 6 stops all future renewals, but if a Contestation Report for the current year has already been approved, that year's order will still be processed, delivered, and billed. Once cancelled, the customer would need to sign up again to reactivate. Yearly customers remain eligible for the money-back guarantee described above.

Broker Referral Program

Each participating broker is given a unique referral link based on their publicly available state license number. Customers who come to the Service using a broker's referral link may receive a discount on the purchase of a Contestation Report.

Brokers may, by prior arrangement, be compensated by ProtestingPropertyTaxes.com for the purchase of Contestation Reports by their clients. Such compensation may take the form of directed donations to nonprofits (e.g., Habitat for Humanity of San Antonio), or direct payments to brokers or their firms.

  1. Customers referred to the site from another promotion run by ProtestingPropertyTaxes.com (e.g., a discount for the employees of a specific employer) will not be credited towards broker compensation, even if they are clients of the broker.

  2. Any customer who receives a payment refund (e.g., under the money-back guarantee) will not be credited towards broker compensation.

ProtestingPropertyTaxes.com reserves the right to alter or suspend the Broker Referral Program at any time.
